Artificial intelligence classes starting in kindergarten in Dubai

From the start of the next school year, artificial intelligence (AI) will become a compulsory subject in all public schools in the Emirates, from kindergarten to 12th grade. This historic decision is part of an ambitious strategy to train a generation ready for the digital future.

A decision announced by the Vice-President of the Emirates

The announcement was made by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President of the Emirates and Ruler of Dubai. On his X account (formerly Twitter), he emphasized the government's desire to prepare young people for a future dominated by emerging technologies.

"Our responsibility is to equip our children for a world very different from our own," he declared.

Objectives: technological culture and AI ethics

The newartificial intelligence curriculum will incorporate :

  • Machine learning
  • Data science and algorithms
  • AI ethics and social implications
  • Robotic applications

The aim is twofold: to impart technical skills and to raise critical awareness of ethical issues.

Content aligned with international standards

The UAE Ministry of Education has collaborated with world experts to build a coherent and universal program. It respects the best educational practices on an international scale.

Mohamed bin Zayed University of AI: a pillar of the national strategy

The Abu Dhabi-based Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI), the first research university dedicated to AI, supports the initiative.
It trains talent, conducts cutting-edge research and fosters public-private partnerships.

Dubai AI Academy: training 10,000 experts

At the same time, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, inaugurated the Dubai AI Academy. The center is located at the DIFC Innovation Hub, at the heart of the Dubai AI Campus, the region's largest technology cluster.

Objective: to train 10,000 people in artificial intelligence professions.

With this initiative, the Emirates are affirming their ambition to become a global hub for artificial intelligence and technology education.
The combination of basic education, advanced vocational training and academic research creates a complete ecosystem.
