Who is Sheikh Hamdam Al Maktoum?
The second son of the current Emir of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Sheikh Hamdan has been designated Crown Prince by his father. He will one day become Emir of Dubai in his own right. The announcement of these appointments by the Emir of Dubai
Following the approval of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, has announced a new cabinet formation in the country.
The new cabinet includes the appointment of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of the United Arab Emirates, as well as the appointment of H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan as Deputy Prime Minister in addition to his portfolio as Minister of Foreign Affairs.
In addition, the new formation includes a major restructuring of the UAE's education system, the appointment of a Minister of Sports and a Minister of State for Entrepreneurship.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said, "After consultations with President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and following his approval, and in continuation of the ongoing structural development of the UAE government, we announce today a cabinet reshuffle as follows: Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum joins the UAE Government as Deputy Prime Minister and is appointed Minister of Defense."
