Dubai resident card: the Emirates ID

The Dubai resident card is called " Emirates ID", and comes in the form of a plastic card in bank card format. With your photo and a series of identification numbers, this card is only issued to people holding a resident visa.

What is the purpose of the Emirates ID?

It is simply the identity card of the residents of Dubai. It will be required for all administrative procedures. With this card, you will be able to open a bank account in Dubai in a few minutes, obtain the equivalence of your French or Belgian driving license immediately, open a telephone line, etc.

How do I get the Emirates ID?

You will need to approach the Dubai authorities and a simplified process is in place for real estate investors. With your payment certificate of more than AED 750,000, your key delivery certificate and a copy of your passport, you can start the process which will be relatively quick. Depending on your passport, it will take one to two weeks for the fingerprinting and printing of the resident visa. The total duration of the operation will depend on the quality of the documents provided and on the number of applicants at the time of the procedure.
