Already 50,000 more inhabitants for Dubai in 2023

Guillaume Giroux on July 6, 2023

Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, is a destination that is attracting more and more people. It has to be said that all the conditions are there: economic attractiveness, affordable real estate, security, good weather all year round and a destination just a few hours from Paris. And the results are not long in coming.

Indeed, in 2023, Dubai confirmed its insane growth. According to Dubai Statistic's Centre Data (a government body), the Emirate's population exceeded 3.6 million at the end of June, an increase of almost 50,000 in the space of just six months. A significant figure on a Dubai scale, and a clear indication of just how much the city attracts people.

Real estate in Dubai, a vector for expatriation

Living in Dubai is a more than positive experience, for many people. As we saw in the introduction, the figures are impressive and speak for themselves. In terms of safety, economy and social life, it's hard to beat it. Dubai is one of the safest cities in the world, on a par with Singapore and Tokyo.

But it's the whole ecosystem that's flourishing. Take real estate, for example: studios, 1 or 2-bedroom apartments (sometimes with swimming pools) are offered for construction and sale, at the best value for money.

One project follows another, proving that the developers are betting on the future and believe that more and more people will settle here. The big plus? Investment programs attracting people from all over the world, such as the Golden Visa Dubai!

How do I expatriate to Dubai?

To expatriate to Dubai, there are a number of formalities to be completed before you can officially set down your bags (whether in France or directly in Dubai).

Expatriation formalities in Dubai, to be carried out in France

  • The first thing to do is check the entry requirements for Dubai. You need to find out about visas, the conditions imposed, etc. All this can be done directly via the website of the UAE embassy in France!
  • Applying for a visa : obtaining a residence visa is the key to living in Dubai. Several solutions are available to you, such as the entrepreneur visa, the work visa (sponsored by the employer) or the real estate investor visa (we'll explain how to obtain the Golden Visa in 2023, in a dedicated article), which allows you and your family to live freely in Dubai for a period of 10 years!
  • Preparing and translating documents: whatever type of visa you choose, you'll need to go through the process of gathering, printing and translating documents. Once you've sent these documents to the government body in charge, all you have to do is wait for the authorities to return and pack your bags.

Steps to take in Dubai

  • Take out insurance: insurance is essential, even in a safe country like Dubai. Plan ahead and take out international health insurance. This will help you and your family to avoid the slightest hassle.
  • Opening a bank account: opening a bank account in Dubai is a must if you want to live here. Whether for work or day-to-day expenses, your financial transactions will be much easier.
