In both Dubai and Abu Dhabi, you will have to pay a registration fee for the transfer of property from the developer to the buyer. The amount of these "notary fees" varies from one Emirate to another. Dubai Immo, the number one real estate agency in Dubai, explains in this article all you need to know about notary fees in the two main cities of the United Arab Emirates.

Notary fees in Dubai

In Dubai, the Dubai Land Department will act as the notary. This government agency is in charge of all real estate matters in Dubai along with RERA, the other controlling agency. The Dubai Land Department will charge a 4% fee for a real estate transaction. The Dubai Land Department will charge this fee which is known in Dubai as the "DLD Fee". The purchase contract will be registered by the Dubai Land Department along with the transfer of ownership from the seller to the buyer. Upon confirmation of the transaction, the new owner will receive his title deed directly by email, and will see his property list updated on the DubaiRest mobile application.

Notary fees in Abu Dhabi

In Abu Dhabi, notary fees are only 2%. These fees are called "Municipality Fees" and are to be paid directly to the developer, as in Dubai. The developer will then transfer the notary fee to the authorities. You will receive a confirmation of the registration of the property transfer and the purchase contract directly from the developer with your signed contract.
